Even on the day I …
Even on the day I had to admit he did look as if he’d scraped the line. This slo mo doesn’t help any more. I reckon if it HAD been given and England had have won, there’d have been an even bigger controversy and another Russian Linesman story. The boks deserved it over the whole of the tournament and England did well to fight their way there. Johnno’s influence is starting to build now and by next world cup – we’ll be a bigger threat. I hope! 🙂

Once and for all my …
Once and for all my english friends. It was not a try. Here in South Africa we know the laws of rugby through and through. If any part of the player makes contact with the line, it is out! Simple as that. Cueto’s foot touched the line. The ref judged it to be out. End of story.
Sorry to be blunt, but the english players really seemed to lose momentum at that point, and thats where the springboks and england differ. The boks would have put it behind them and pushed on!

It’s a close …
It’s a close decision, I’ve got 20:20 vision & even in black & white slow mo’ I can’t be sure. The bottom line is TMO made his decision, it wasn’t an event to decide the game in the last minute & the best team ran out winners in the end. Sometimes the TMO gives a 50:50 sometimes he doesn’t, that’s why its a 50:50. Some rugby matches are decided by one event, but this wasn’t one of them…… An Englishman.

portugal, which is …
portugal, which is a borderline amateur rugby team, scored more points against the all blacks in one game than what england could score against the boks in two.

at about 3:15 press …
at about 3:15 press play and pause really fast, you only get it for a split second as 3:16 turns to to 3:17, catch the pause at 3:17 and you can clearly see his foot is on the floor and on the line

1. South Africa …
1. South Africa were the best team in the tournament.
2. It was a try – this video close up slo mo shows it.
3. Even if it had been given I don’t believe England would have won it.
All in – a great tournament, roll on 2011 and the England vs South Africa Final. Part 2.

I feel we should …
I feel we should focus on the rugby, and this was a tournament that most agree was a candidate for the best Rugby World Cup ever. It’s hard to imagine a better candidate. I think there’s too much fuss about a disallowed try. The coaches, the players, the experts all agree that it was too early in the half to be seen as a valid turning point. To me Argentina were the team who improved the most, England were the team with the most heart and South Africa were the best team, and they all proved it.

OF COURSE IT WAS A …
OF COURSE IT WAS A TRY!
The only reason the video ref didn’t give it was because England had knocked his country out in the Semis and he wanted to take revenge for that (and the 2003 final)

OK OK OK… people, …
OK OK OK… people, if england had scored that try South Africa would have scored more point to secure the match, i mean this is sport, when a call doesnt go your way try harder to get a try or any sort of points, dont sit there & cry about it, the Springboks deserved it they played better than England, to think about it South Africa’s world cup was like a dream it was perfect… well done to the Springboks bcoz through every game they worked hard and were the only team that won all their games!

i don’tknow why …
i don’tknow why they are making such a big dealover the try, if it was given then it still did not mean that england would automatically win the wc. if the situation changes and england took the lead then SA would ahve played differently, who knows, sa could score afew tries and run away with it or england could score some more tries. in the end it was no try, end of story.

England supporters …
England supporters should be proud that their team punched above their weight in the final stages of the RWC. The score and the way the game went does not reflect the dominance the Boks had in all facets of the game. As regards the dissalowed try: Even if Cueto’s boot was ABOVE the line it had to have scraped some white on the way up and unfortunately for you in the UK that is out according to the laws. Accept it.

i must still be …
i must still be drunk :S
yet agen talkin utter , tht’s a different person. U don’t know for a fact tht south africa would have won. the neglish rugby team r very unpredictable, u never know they could of held their lead of 10 – 9 if they had the try and converted it.
my point is tht u never know wot could of happened u cnt just ume tht south africa would have still won
and i’ll think i’ll pass on the meetin up face to face, u’ll probably try and bum me
2009 May 25
Yep…you must …
Yep…you must still be drunk. Your fact is it was a try — my fact and those of all the pundits it was not. Your fact the try could have changed the game either way — my fact and the all the rugby purist based on RWC form and that SA where still only in 2nd gear it would have gone SA’s way. As Dewi said, game to far for England. If you want to get personal about it it I am happy to meet up with you face to face.
