I’m going to enter a craft competition “decorated rugby ball“. Can anyone give me any tips on how to do this? I was thinking buying a cheap one and painting it? Anyone have any other ideas, or design ideas and how I could do it?
Any advice appreciated! =)
You could decoupage it with paper from rugby matches or photos.
Just got my first rugby ball and I don’t know how hard it should be when fully pumped. Should I be able to squeeze it a little? or should it be rock hard?
If the ball is at the correct pressure you should not be able to push in the surface at all. If it has too little pressure you will be able to do this. If it has too much pressure the ball will start to go out of shape and eventually burst. When you refer to the ball being rock hard, this is probably the correct pressure providing you have not put too much air in and it has gone out of shape.
Why not round?
But why the oval shape?
In the early days, rugby balls were made using inflated pigs’ bladders and so took on a similar shape. Really, they were more of a plum shape to begin with. Much larger and rounder than they are today.
Some people believe the more elongated shape developed because it was more suited to a game like rugby that involved running with the ball as well as kicking it.
