Okay so my dad really likes rugby and now I am interested in it though I don’t know how it’s played or really anything about it!!!
So if you know like who made the sport and how it is played and everything then tell me PLEASE!!!! And I need to know cause I am going to England soon!!!

Rugby Union is an 80min game with approx. 25mins of ball in play action, mostly involving kicking the ball. The rest of the game involves various stoppages, such as penalties, lineouts or the ever exciting scrum and re-set scrum and re-set scrum. After any thrilling 2 or 3 min period of ball in play, the whole game is usually stopped for someone to lay on the ground getting a leg rub and their boots tied, for several mins. Playing one of these games a week is too taxing on the players, so they play as little rugby as possible in the lead up to a World Cup, to prepare for the 'finals'.
Rugby League is also an 80min game, however there are far less stoppages and the ball is in play for more like 65min. The game involves great impact in the tackle, followed by the ball being played and the game continuing, rather than a messy scrap involving many players leading to a penalty. The game is far faster and more free flowing and the main goal is to actually score points through tries, unique idea. Players can be interchanged to maintain the intensity and unless someone is seriously hurt, the ball is taken away and the game continues. It is not uncommon for top players to back up for their clubs 2 or 3 days after playing a rep game.
In summary league is fast and intense, whereas rugby is slow and boring.

Which game…the vastly more popular and superior Union or the 'touch-rugby', no contested scrums, no lineouts, no ripping the ball from your opponent, 'dinky' back pass…league?
